Remote / Cable Releaseequipment

A remote trigger so you can fire the shutter without touching (and shaking) the camera.

On a tripod, even pressing the shutter introduces tiny vibrations during long exposures. A wired or wireless remote (or the 2-second self-timer, or a phone app) avoids that. An intervalometer adds timing for time-lapses and very long bulb exposures. Essential for astro, long exposures, and group shots you want to be in.

Use this when

  • Long exposures, astro, time-lapse: remote or intervalometer

Common mistake: Pressing the shutter by hand on a 20-second exposure and softening the start.
