Mirrorless Cameraequipment
A camera with no reflex mirror — light goes straight to the sensor, and you compose through an electronic viewfinder or the screen.
In a mirrorless camera there's no mirror or optical prism. The sensor is exposed to the scene continuously, feeding a live preview to an electronic viewfinder (EVF) or rear screen. That enables real-time exposure preview, eye-detection autofocus, and silent shooting, and lets the body be smaller. Nearly all new interchangeable-lens cameras are mirrorless.
Use this when
- Eye-AF for portraits: A mirrorless strength
- Silent / discreet shooting: Electronic shutter
Common mistake: Assuming mirrorless always means a smaller kit — pro lenses are often the same size.
