L-Bracketequipment

An L-shaped plate that lets you switch between landscape and portrait orientation on a tripod instantly.

Normally flipping a tripod head to vertical throws off your framing and lowers the camera. An L-bracket mounts on the bottom and the side, so you remount the camera vertically while keeping it centered over the tripod — fast, stable, and level. Popular with landscape and architecture shooters using Arca-Swiss heads.

Use this when

  • Switching to vertical on a tripod: remount on the L-bracket's side

Common mistake: Flopping the head sideways instead, destabilizing the rig.
