Drive Modetechnical

How many frames the camera takes per shutter press — single, continuous burst, or self-timer.

Single shot fires one frame. Continuous (burst) fires as long as you hold the shutter, at the camera's frames-per-second rate — essential for action so you can pick the peak moment. High-speed bursts fill the buffer fast and eat card space. The self-timer delays the shot (sharp tripod shots, getting in the photo).

Use this when

  • Landscapes, portraits: single shot
  • Sports, wildlife: high-speed continuous
  • Tripod / long exposure: 2s self-timer

Common mistake: Shooting action one frame at a time and missing the peak moment.
