Bokeh isn't just how much blur, but how pleasing it is — smooth, round highlights vs busy or harsh ones. Fast primes and longer lenses tend to render creamier bokeh. Subject-to-background distance matters as much as the f-number.
Use this when
- Creamy portrait background: fast prime, subject far from background
Common mistake: Chasing a faster lens when just moving the subject off the background would do it.
