Leading Linesgeneral

Lines in the scene that guide the viewer's eye toward your subject.

Roads, fences, shorelines, and shadows can act as arrows leading into the frame and toward the subject, adding depth and direction. Position yourself so the lines converge where you want attention.

Use this when

  • Landscapes, streets: use roads/rivers to lead in

Common mistake: Lines that lead out of the frame, pulling the eye away.
