Continuous Light vs Strobeequipment

Continuous (LED) light is always on — what you see is what you get; strobes fire a brief, powerful burst.

Continuous lights (LED panels) let you see the effect live and work for both photo and video, but are less powerful, so you may need higher ISO or slower shutters. Strobes/flashes deliver a huge burst of light that freezes motion and overpowers the sun, but you can't preview the exact result without a test shot. Many beginners start with continuous for its simplicity.

Use this when

  • Video or learning: continuous LED
  • Freezing motion, max power: strobe / flash

Common mistake: Expecting a small LED to freeze fast action the way a strobe can.
